Mamie Ruth Graham

Mamie Graham, 86, was born, on August 24, 1931, in Kinston, NC. to Jessie B. Patterson and James Patterson.  She passed away peacefully at home in Red Springs, under the loving care of her family and Scotland Regional Hospice.  Mamie was raised by her grandparents, Jessie Floyd and James Carmichael of Kinston, NC.  Mamie lived in Maxton many years before moving to Red Springs.  She loved farm living and caring for family.

Mamie became baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on August 15, 1958, at an International Convention in New York, held at Yankee Stadium and Polo Grounds.  She loved talking about Jehovah, and the Kingdom hope she held dear, until her death.  Mamie was a member of the Red Springs congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for several years, then and was a member of the Laurinburg congregation, and finally moved back to Red Springs.

Mamie is survived by:  her husband of 36 years, John W. Graham; eight children, Ernest Crawford Jr. (Fayetteville, NC), David Crawford (Fayetteville, NC), Deborah (Don) Thomas, (Detroit Mi.), Cynthia (Renee) McKoy, (Red Springs, NC), Pamela Crawford, (Raeford, NC), Alonzo Crawford (Jacksonville, FL), Dorothy Crawford (Fayetteville, NC), and Antoine Crawford (Red Springs, NC).  Mamie is preceded in death by four children: Barbara Jean Crawford, Sheila Crawford, James Crawford, and Jerry Crawford.

Mamie is also survived by two brothers: Jimmy Patterson (Laurinburg, NC) and Joseph Patterson (Laurinburg, NC) and one sister, Sharon Elizabeth Patterson (Libby) (Laurinburg, NC). 

Preceding Mamie in death were one brother: Mickey Floyd (Maxton, NC) and  two sisters: Annie B. Patterson (Maxton, NC) and Shirley Walker (Baltimore, Md.).

Mamie is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
