Mr. Walter Hugh Harrington was born January 12, 1946 to the late Mrs. Sarah Catherine Harrington and the late Mr. Grover Willie Harrington. He departed this life on February 22, 2018 at Scottish Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Laurinburg, NC.
Walter worked at J.P. Stevens in Wagram, NC for 35 years. He loved to fish, race fast cars and being with his family. Mr. Walter attended R.B. Dean School in Maxton, NC.
Walter confessed to Christ ten years ago and became a member of Praise and Worship Ministries in Red Springs, NC. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Margie Marie Harrington. She is a very loving wife, mother and homemaker.
Walter Hugh Harrington was preceded in death by Andre Leach, Malcolm Monroe, Donte Monroe, one great grand, Aubree Jazelle Monroe, one brother, Johnny James Harrington, one sister, Mandy Bertha Harrington Bethea, one aunt, Eula Mae Blackmon, and one brother-in-law, Dan Baldwin.
Those left to cherish his memories: his wife, Margie Marie Harrington, of the home; fifteen children, Annie (John) Baker, Walter Hugh Harrington Jr., Cotina Monroe, Shawn Monroe, John Monroe and Monte Monroe of Maxton NC, Sharon (Timothy) Stephens of Killeen TX, Walter (Jill) Martin, Callie Martin of McColl SC, Lou Pearl Page of Laurinburg NC, Jermaine Taylor of Baltimore MA, Debra McInnis, Corey (Sheree) McInnis, Eddie Lee (Tracy) McInnis, and Simeon D. McInnis of High Point NC; four brothers, Grover Willie (Brenda) Harrington of Orlando FL, Willie Andrew (Maxine) Harrington of Maxton NC, Charles Ervin Harrington of Maxton NC, and Grover Lee (Cassandra) Harrington of Laurinburg NC; one aunt, Irma Neil Gates-Ross of Raeford NC; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Jacobs, Geraldine Baldwin, and Catherine Harrington of Maxton NC; four brothers-in-law, John (Ruth) McLaurin of New Jersey, Charles (Jean) McLaurin of Maxton NC, Wilbert (Mary) McLaurin of Raleigh NC, and Pearlie Bethea of Maxton NC.
Pa-Pa, as he was called by many, will be greatly missed by his 51 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; one god son, Quincy (Vicky) McNair of Fayetteville NC; a special grandson, Joseph Patterson Jr.; special friends, Gail Alshton, Johnnie Mae Monroe, Jerome Lane, Eddie McInnis Sr., Roscoe Johnson, and Mary Martin Richardson.
