Mrs. Darnella Bullard Terry was born to the late Wesley and Darnella Bullard of Robeson County, NC on July 24, 1921.
She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to fail.
She was a dedicated member of Sunday School, served as a Deaconess, Senior Choir member, Faithful Usher for over 80-years, Pastor’s Aide, and Hospitality Committee. Mrs. Terry was known as one of the Platinum Queens of Bethlehem. Mother Terry was a member of the Court of Calanthe Morning Star #401, Garden Club, past President and Treasurer of the Community Savings Club.
She retired from Presbyterian Daycare where she was known for her homemade biscuits. “Yes those biscuits melt in your mouth and not in your hands”. She will be remembered for selling ice cream on Creedle Street, and taking soup to the sick and shut-in. Mother enjoyed reciting poems. One of her favorite poems was, “My Get Up and Go Has Got Up and Went”.
Deaconess Terry was preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Terry Sr., son, Tommy Terry and daughter, Mable Ferebee. She leaves to cherish her legacy: Henry B. (Linda) Terry Jr; Bobby (Brenda) Terry, Larry (Lola) Terry, Ella (Robert) David all of Laurinburg, NC; Billy Terry of Norfolk, VA. and Donald Terry (Vicky) of Charlotte, NC; sixty-three grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, three sisters, Geneva Gillis and Elner Jean Austin of Laurinburg, NC; and Pearline Armstrong of New Jersey; two sister in laws; God-daughter, Kozma (James) McLean of Laurinburg, NC; special nieces and nephews, William and Vivian Bullard of Laurinburg, NC; Ella Mae and Tommy Simpson of Florida; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We were blessed to have her with us for so many years as a loving mother and grandmother with an unwavering sense of commitment to her family. She will truly be missed.
