Betty Jean Gibson

Funeral services for Betty Jean Gibson, 65, of Laurinburg, will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Purcell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Wagram, NC. Viewing and visitation are on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, 2:00 pm thru 6:00 pm. Services are entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home, Laurinburg.

Mrs. Betty Jean Gibson the daughter of the late Walter and Ollie Pearl Easterling was born March 16th, 1953, in Scotland County, North Carolina. She was the sixth of seven children. On Wednesday, February 27, 2019, Betty entered into eternal rest at Cape Fear Valley Medical Hospital in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Betty attended Scotland High School in Laurinburg, North Carolina. She was married to the late John Willie Gibson. To their union, two children were born.

Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Inez Pipkin.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Beverly (Patrick) Harp, and John T. Gibson both of Laurinburg, NC; two grandsons, Rasheen Dockery Jr., and Isaiah Dockery; three sisters, Mattie (Walter) Campbell of Marston, NC, Cora Easterling, and Catherine Easterling both of Wagram, NC; two brothers, Edward (Margaret) Easterling Jr. of Raeford, NC, and Alexander Easterling of Wagram, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
