Kenneth Marvin Purcell, owner of Purcell Funeral Home & Cremation Services passed away suddenly on May 9, 2020. The family and dedicated staff will make every effort to maintain his legacy in a manner that would make him proud.

From birth, Kenneth Purcell was destined for greatness. As a young boy, he had entrepreneurship on his mind and moved readily to explore the world of business. As a young boy, he erected a small bicycle shop in his parent’s backyard. This became a lucrative business for such a young boy, initiating a fire in his bones leading him to additional business adventures to include recycling, landscaping, insurance, and ultimately all aspects of Funeral Service.

He is a graduate of the Hoke County High School class of 1983. He furthered his education by graduating from Gupton – Jones College of Funeral Services class of 1986 ranking as the youngest member of his class. He returned home to work at Pugh Funeral Home in Southern Pines, where he completed his apprenticeship and became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at the age of 22. He also obtained his certification as a licensed Insurance Agent for both North and South Carolina.

Intrigued by the aspect of proprietorship Mr. Purcell established his first funeral home in Southern Pines, NC in May 1995. It was 31 days before he received his first client. He established his second funeral home in 1999 located in Raeford, NC. In 2006 he extended his services to Scotland County opening his third funeral home, his businesses flourished way beyond his expectations.

He was a cherished Husband, Father, Son, loving brother, and Community Leader
