Dorothea J. Griffin

Dorothea J. Griffin, 100, of Southern Pines, NC. passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at First Missionary Baptist Church, Southern Pines, NC.  Purcell Funeral Home & Cremation Services is serving the family.

She recently reached the monumental milestone of reaching 100 years old. During her life at she was a successful cosmetologist who ran her own salon – The House of Charm. Dottie was an avid community activist.  She was a long-time member of the Moore County NAACP and the West Southern Pines Civic Club.

Dottie leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Emmanuel Lewis, Winslow Griffin, and Shelia Griffin, two grandchildren: Jonathan (Serena) and Shannel, two great-grandchildren: Savannah and Andrew Lewis, two siblings: Herman (Esther) Lewis and Hermanese Stevenson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-nephews and friends.

Memorials may be made to any one of the following organizations: the Moore County Chapter of the NAACP, West Southern Pines Civic Club, or First Health Hospice House.
