Catherine Bailey

Funeral service for Catherine Bailey, 76, of Laurinburg, will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Purcell Funeral Home, Laurinburg. Burial will follow in the Hillside Memorial Park. Viewing and visitation will be held from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2019, at the funeral home. Services are entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home of Laurinburg.

Catherine Bailey was the beloved daughter of the late James and Annie Monley. She departed life at Scotland Regional Hospice (Morrison Manor) on April 8, 2019.

Catherine was educated in the Scotland County Public School System.  At an early age, she moved to New York City where she was employed with Rudban Coats as a supervisor in the accounting department.  In 2013 she moved back to Laurinburg. She was employed as a caregiver with Scotia Village and Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Annie Monley; and sister, Shelia Monley.

Catherine leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of thirty-five years, William Bailey, Sr.; one daughter, Wanda Monley; one son, Jeffery Monley; seven sisters, Janie Buchanan, and Annie Louise Harp of New York, Joyce (Wilbert) Riggin, Cynthia (Lewis) Campbell, Ravonda (Jerome) John, Lisa (Dennis) Lomack ,all of California, and Leslie McLean of Raeford; one brother, Vernice Bernard Monley; four stepchildren, Keevin (June) Edwards of Georgia, William (Elaine) Bailey, Jr. of Charlotte, Stephanie Bailey, and Carlos Bailey both of Virginia; two grandsons, Henry Monley and Jermaine Monley; eleven great-grandchildren; one aunt, Lela Smith of Laurel Hill; a special cousin, Blanche (James) McCrimmon of Charlotte; two sisters-in-law, Laura (William) Brooks, and Berta (Carey) Speller both of Virginia;  and a host of other relatives and friends.
