Arlena (Easterling) Castor

Arlena (Easterling) Castor, 74 of Ohio formerly of Scotland County departed this life on September 8, 2023. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, September 21, 2023, at The Kenneth M. Purcell Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Silver Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 until 12:00 prior to the service. Services are entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home & Cremation. 
 

Arlena Easterling "Sue" Castor was born on August 7, 1949, in Bennettsville, South Carolina to the late James Henry Easterling, Sr., and Lillie Florence McRae Easterling.

On September 8th, 2023, God called Arlena "Sue" Castor home to receive her just reward. Arlena was converted at an early age and was a member of McZarn A.M.E Zion Church in Laurinburg, North Carolina during her earlier years in life.

Arlena received her education at Shaw High School in Scotland County, North Carolina. She continued her education at Sand Hills Community College in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Later Arlena married Evaster Castor, and later returned to Richmond Community College to receive a certification in nutrition and multidisciplinary activities.

Arlena was employed as a care giver for several years in Laurinburg, North Carolina. In 2009 she moved to Cleveland, Ohio. She became the director of Enrichment Home LLC.

Arlena was quiet, and she had a beautiful smile. She enjoyed her conversations with her friend May Lewis, as they discussed their soap operas. She loved to travel, and her beautiful soprano voice illuminated when she sang "How Great Thou Art". 

Arlena was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Ellerbe; brothers, James, Jr, Billy, Thomas, and Marvin Easterling.

Arlena leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Lillie Griffin of Cleveland, OH, Nora Easterling of Laurinburg, NC, and Vondell Lee of Spring Valley, NY; one brother, Alexander Purcell of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
