Funeral service for Mrs. Amy Douglas will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Greater Piney Grove United Methodist Church, Maxton North Carolina. Viewing will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Purcell Funeral Home, Laurinburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Services are entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home, Laurinburg.

Amy McDougal Douglas, 99, of Prestwick Village, Laurinburg, NC returned to her heavenly home on December 31, 2018. Her devotion to family and a firm belief in God allowed her to live a long and fruitful life.

Amy was born March 12, 1919, in Marlboro County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Pearl McIntyre McDougal. Amy was educated in the Robeson County School System.

Amy was reared to love the Lord and joined Piney Grove United Methodist Church at an early age. Later, she joined Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church. She attended and served faithfully until her health began to fail. Amy continued her worship at Prestwick Village enjoying the singing and preaching.

Amy was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late William “Moochy” Douglas. Together they lovingly, reared their adopted son, the late Ronnie Gaddy.

Aunt Amy was a pivotal leader in the Piney Grove Community. She loved and served her family and church dutifully. Amy loved to assist in rearing children. She was instrumental in rearing her nieces, nephews, and other community children.

Amy was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie, Judge, Foster, Noah, Barry, Daniel, and Howard; sisters, Beulah, Charity, Margaret, Eva, and Cora Lee.

Aunt Amy is survived by three grandchildren; her sister Elizabeth Mack of Richmond, VA; a sister-in-law Willie Bea McDougal of Wagram, NC; and The Lytch Children whom she reared. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.
