Alfonza Brown

Mr. Alfonza “Jake” Brown, son of the late Beatrice Hayes Clark Brown and Thomas F. Brown was born on March 22, 1945 in Clio, South Carolina.  Alfonza entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 31, 2017.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Thomasine B. Murphy and two brothers, Leroy Brown and Lee Edward “Butch” Brown.

Alfonza attended the public schools of Marlboro County, South Carolina.

Alfonza was united in holy matrimony to Brenda Harrington Brown.  To this union four children were born:  Demetric, Brandy, Shaquana, and Briana.

Alfonza began working at a young age and worked with McNair Investment Company for over twenty years.  Later, he went on to work for ZV Pate, Inc., JP Locklear, Wallace and Oxendine Trucking Company.

After attending for many years, he dedicated his life to Christ and joined Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church on September 25, 2005.  He attended services until his health declined.

Alfonza leaves to cherish his precious memories:  his wife, Brenda F. Brown of Laurinburg, NC; one son, Demetric (Diane) Harrington of Laurinburg, NC; three daughters, Brandy D. Brown, Shaquana L. Brown, and Briana Q. Brown, all of Laurinburg, NC; two grandchildren, Octavis McLaurin and D’Andrea Mason, both of Laurinburg, NC; one brother, Willie Earl (Peggy) Brown of Laurinburg, NC; one aunt, Queen McLean; two sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other special relatives and friends.
