Palmer Lee Thompson Sr.

Palmer Lee Thompson Sr. (affectionately known as  Palmer Lee), passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Vitas Hospice Inpatient Center in Duluth, GA. surrounded by his loving family. Palmer Lee was born in Rowan County on September 12, 1949 to Mary Thompson Wallace of Syracuse, NY. She preceded him in death.

Palmer Lee graduated in 1968, from Dunbar High School in East Spencer, NC where he played on the basketball team. He was drafted into the United States Marine Corps at age 19, and served for a number of years and was a Vietnam Veteran in addition to serving in the United States Navy. He was an active member of the JC Price American Legion. He was a member of the Baptist Faith.

Palmer Lee had an undying love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He had an unwavering love and devotion to his friends, classmates and community. Palmer was a dedicated participant in organizing his active for the class reunions for the Class of 1968.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal parents, William and Bessie Thompson; brother, Ronnie Thompson; uncle, W.P. Thompson (DUB); uncle, Luther Thompson; aunt, Neil Thompson Williams; aunt, Odessa Thompson; and aunt, Ida Belle Davis.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 42 years, Linda Thompson, of Loganville, GA; daughter, Maelecheia Thompson McKeithen (Aundray) and sons, Xzavier and Jordon of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Palmer Thompson, Jr. and daughters, Azaria and Taylor of Lithonia, GA; brother, Lester Wallace of Syracuse, NY; daughters, Rhonda Williams (David) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Catherine Miller (James) of Salisbury, NC; sister, Ethelene Phillips of Salisbury, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
