Dr. Ahmad Rashad McLean (Sean) was born on July 11, 1981 in Laurinburg, NC. Sean departed this life on June 3, 2017 at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Sean was a very energetic, outgoing, outspoken young man. He inspired and left a lasting impression on all that he met.
Sean was educated in the Scotland County School System and was a member of the Scotland High School graduating class of 1999. After graduating high school, Sean attended Shaw University in Raleigh, NC where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiotherapy. Sean went to further his education at John Hopkins University where he obtained his Masters in Public Health. Sean continued his studies at UNC where he graduated with his PhD in Health & Human Services Research. While attending Shaw, Sean was a devoted and proud member & drum major for the Platinum Sound Marching Band. He was also a devoted member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Sean was preceded in death by his uncles, Vernell and James McLean.
Sean leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Frances Tyson; father, William Mitchell (Betty) and Robert Tyson; siblings, Megil McLean (Tanya), Chakelia Pate (Noni)/(Areian), Monte McLean, Damien Cox, William Jr., Rodney Peterkin, Shawnquetta Jones, Anna Gibson (Jonny), Hattie McLean, and Sabrina Morrison (Jessie); paternal grandmother, Emma Mitchell; niece and nephews, Yaieta, Jalen, Jumarius, Jordan, Amarion, A’Treal, and Jayceon; aunts, Carthina McLean, Elosie Quick, Liz Jones, Gladys McLean, and Wanda McLean; uncles, Kenny McLean, Gary McLean, Clarence Gates (Denise), Stan McMillan; special friends, Charles Gardner, Mary Finney, and Ebony Hinnant; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives & friends.
Sean will be sincerely missed by all his loved ones and friends. His witty and charismatic character left lasting imprints on the hearts of everyone he knew & loved.
